To the future and beyond!
Hello to whoever is reading this!
If it’s not evident, I clearly do not blog frequently, as it has been well over a year since my last post. What has changed since then? A LOT.
Around this time a year ago, I was referred by my good friend Chris McRae for a dream career opportunity: photo editing for a wedding studio! As a lot of people know, while I truly do love photography, my favourite thing in the digital media world is photo editing through Lightroom and Photoshop. I had the opportunity to meet with one of the photographers for the company, and to this day I have been their wedding photo editor!
The company is called Mocha Tree Studios . Their style revolves around dark, moody and earthy tones, which just so happens to be the way I prefer my photo style as well. Sheen and his team are so welcoming and friendly and provide the best service for anybody’s wedding day. They are also LGBTQ+ friendly which makes me that much happier to be working with such a wonderful team. I have been honoured to have had the opportunity to photograph weddings under Mocha Tree Studio’s name which has helped me immensely with styling, posing, and composition.
Outside of Mocha Tree Studios, I have also photographed a few other weddings this year. In May I had the honour of photographing my good friend Meghan and her (now) husband Jose’s wedding. It was a small city hall wedding on a rainy day with close family and friends present. A few hours after the wedding while editing, I was hit with a wave of emotion upon realizing that I got to photograph a wedding for somebody so close in my life. I couldn’t have felt more grateful.
Over this past Summer, I have been busy with a few projects. I have been focused on Mocha Tree Studio’s wedding editing (or wedd-iting as I like to call it), I have also been working full-time as a manager in my retail position, and I began a semi-keto life journey! For the retail position, it has certainly kept me busy and has had many highs and lows. The store I work at will be closing January 2020 so we are currently in liquidation mode. Hectic would be an understatement throughout this process. Fortunately the future is bright and further career opportunities after this one are in sight.
As for the semi-keto life, I had been researching about the ketogenic diet since April, and began slowly at the beginning of June. I have genuinely enjoyed the lifestyle change. I still say semi-keto as hardcore keto focuses on staying under 20 net carbs a day, whereas I usually range between 20-50. I created an instagram account documenting my journey through the semi-keto life @semiketobri which has helped to incorporate lots of photography and photo editing.
All in all, I am an extremely busy person, but everything that has been going on makes me feel happy and accomplished. I focused on not promoting myself excessively, and I still found career opportunities. I have a bunch of fall portrait sessions lined up soon that I am ecstatic for!
I am also FINALLY moving out and beginning my life on my own. Well, I will have a roommate but I am so so so excited to begin a bunch of new chapters in my life all at once.
Thank you for following my journey, there is guaranteed more to come!
